November 27, 2016 marked the 100th anniversary of Samba -- which began with the release of "Pelo Telefone," the first music recording to widely contribute to the dissemination and popularization of the Samba genre.
Over the course of a year, Brazil honored a treasured part of its great cultural legacy with a series of wonderful celebrations about Samba's first 100 years.
On November 27, 2017, Legacy and Alchemy LLC with the support of the U.S. Consulate in Rio de Janeiro convened Rio's international community at the historic TEATRO RIVAL PETROBRAS in the Cinelandia area in downtown Rio de Janeiro. We joined Brazilians in celebration of the end of the first 100 years of Samba, and helped to launch the next 100 years of Samba on its 101st birthday.
